We wrote about Banca last year after we enjoyed a rather appetizing ‘Aperitivo’, and now we have yet another reason to pop in after work while schmoosing in central London. These rather ingenious Italians have developed a Negroni based cocktail list, including classics alongside new inventions for your sipping pleasure.
Banca has launched a specialist cocktail menu dedicated to the iconic Italian aperitif – Negroni. The new menu offers guests the choice of ten expertly crafted Negroni cocktails, all priced at £10. It might not be the cheapest of cocktail offerings but with such luxurious surroundings, slick service and central London location, we could easily be seduced in to a serving or two.
There are four Classic Negroni cocktails, or alternatively, guests who are feeling adventurous have the choice of six Negroni Variations – Italian Negronis, all made with a twist. The menu includes Campari Shakerato: a mix of Bitter Campari and Orange Bitter, Banca: a combination of Cynar, Antica Formula Carpano and Gancia Dry Vermouth and Americano: a blend of Bitter Campari, Martini Rosso served on the rocks with a splash of Club Soda……..
Or for those wanting to stick to comfort, guests can choose from fou more traditional Negroni cocktails including Classic Negroni: a traditional blend of Tanqueray Gin, Bitter Campari and Antica Formula, Negroni Sbagliato: a concoction of Bitter Campari, Martini Rosso and Prosecco, and Aromatic Negroni: a mix of Tanqueray Gin, Aperol, Gancia Rosso and Club Soda – a subtle blend with a hint of spice.
Banca’s specialist Negroni cocktail menu is available throughout the day including ‘Aperitivo’ Hours from 5pm – 7.30pm on Tuesday to Friday, where one can expect a sumptuous Italian Aperitivo is laid out on Banca’s statement long bar.
We asked the lovely people at Banca, if we might snaffle one of their Negroni recipes for you to make, when entertaining at home.
– Place a good amount of ice cubes in an old fashioned glass
– Pour 25ml of Tanqueray Gin, 25ml of Aperol, 25ml of Gancia Rosso and 25ml of Club Soda
– Garnish with a slice of orange
While looking around for some glassware to recommend for serving the Negronis stylishly in, we stumbled upon these cut crystal light bulbs. These are now on our covet list and would look great over many a kitchen/dining room table, we are sure. Click image for link to site.
Or for actual drinking glasses to serve your Negronis in try these gorgeous stylish ones from Heals: Click image for link to site.
Entertaining: Banca makes for a very civilised, contemporary yet classic option for entertaining (see previous article). The Aperitivo offering makes for a clever after-work refuel pit-stop. The Negroni menu is a great addition and provides a very modern day, European ‘Mad Men’ drinking feel. Those heavy bottom glasses make one feel a little on the powerful side – or is that just the booze talking?
