Leaving it to the last minute to plan something special, for quite possibly one of the most important people in your world, can be slightly stressful. So if you still have nothing planned and need some inspiration, then here are a few ideas to sooth the entertaining pressure. (Just in case you have missed the media – it’s Mother’s Day this Sunday 10th of March).
Mother of an Afternoon: We like Fitzrovia, very much central London, but not too mobbed with shoppers and tourists. There are some super spots around the neighbourhood and for Mothers day, Charlotte Street Hotel have planned a lovely affair in the form of a film. Settle down in their comfortable and stylish screening room and enjoy a pre or after film 3 course meal in Oscar (the in-house restaurant). Plus the added bonus that if four of you dine, then your Mother’s meal is on the house!
Healthy Mother: Say it with Chocolates, but not any old box from the corner shop; give the chocolates that will make her healthier…well sort of. We are a big fan of Chococru in the office. These are multi award-winning chocolates that use an anthocyanin rich, mauve cocoa, packed with powerful flavanols – High in antioxidants. Click here for online shop and stockists.
Over Indulging Mother: Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester (holds 3 Michelin Stars) for those of us that might need to go an extra mile this Mother’s day and show some serious appreciation. This is a beautiful restaurant in an aspirational part of town, The Dorchester is a great backdrop for people watching and weather permitting, you might be able to have a delightful stroll through Hype Park after. How very civilised.
West-Side Mother: Claude’s Kitchen has just launched above Amuse Bouche in Parsons Green. With Chef Claude Compton, previously of Petersham Nurseries and Club Gascon (and founder of street food offering Green Goat), we have high expectations for a lovely neighbourhood eat with the added bonus of a 100% sustainable menu.
Mother of a Pudding: Our lovely buddies at The Jam Tree (Chelsea and Clapham) have had quite the gold star idea, offering freebie brownies to Mummys after their Sunday lunch (at The Jam Tree also). Ask for details when booking.
Gilded Mother: Designers Guild – for the hostess. Try some beautiful tableware. It’s hard to go wrong with any of the gorgeous glasses, crockery or tableware at this shop. There is something for almost everyone’s taste.
