Hot off the heals on the success of the delightful Dior pop up, we just heard on the grape vine, that there is a new Gatsby 1920s inspired cocktail bar ‘pop up’ taking over the Tasting Room and Wine Shop at Harrods this May.
This is what they say:
HARRODS PRESENTS – COCKTAILS & ALL THAT JAZZ!
Inspired by the highly anticipated release of Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic The Great Gatsby, Harrods will be harking back to the lavish entertaining and unmistakable glamour of the Roaring Twenties.
Between Thursday 9th and Monday 20th May, Harrods will be transforming the Tasting Room and Wine Shop into an opulent art-deco pop-up experience, inviting customers to revisit the Jazz Age and reinvent some of the classic pours of this glitzy era.
On Friday 10th May, to further add to the celebration of the bygone age of flappers and art deco, Harrods will be hosting an exclusive masterclass in which customers will be able to channel their inner mixologist, enjoy the sounds of a 1920s-style Jazz Band Trio and sample an array of beautifully prepared canapés. Discover the art of cocktail making as Wayne Collins and a host of internationally recognised, award-winning mixologists put a 21st-century twist on some classic mixes, featuring iconic spirit brands Courvoisier Exclusif VSOP Cognac, Hendrick’s Gin, Johnnie Walker Double Black, The Macallan Amber Malt Whisky, and Stolichnaya Elit Vodka.
The luxurious underground cocktail pop-up lounge can be visited throughout the day and theatrical cocktail-making sessions will take place at the main bar of Harrods’ Wine Shop. Visitors can relish the excitement and glamour of the 1920s, while sampling a wonderful array of delicious bespoke cocktail creations from Courvoisier’s Brandy Crusta and Hendrick’s Gin’s Floradora to an Elit Martini by Stolichnaya, a Spiced Honey Sour by Johnnie Walker and The Macallan Blood and Sand.
Glad to see Harrods not resting on their gold encrusted laurels, with this new decadently themed pop up. We are most pleased to see this epic and iconic London institution undergoing some inspired developments to get back on the hipsters lists – as a destination spot for current and contemporary happenings in popular culture.
We will be off to take a cheeky peek for the launch and will repost back hopefully with tales of outrageous cocktail drinking and feather headbands!
