Tea! One of the joys of daily life for a lot of people, certainly for us in the office and at home. We drink it all day long from morning to night, intoxicating ourselves with various herbs and blends. What better way to welcome someone than with a comforting cuppa? Tea is more than flavoured hot water, it you can help lift someone’s mood and even soothe a full stomach after an epic meal.
We were delighted to receive a lovely large box of various teas from a new boutique tea brand last week called Teaple. These new tea tipples are the concept from a delightful Devonshire lad – Lewis. He is a man with a dream for fuss free, great quality tea without the need for all the accoutrement – no expensive infuser pots or strainers, he wants Teaple to offer a ‘No faff, no pretense, no lah-‐dee-‐dah’ alternative. Just really good tea. It would appear from our most enjoyable product testing that might just be the case.
Teaple is about proper whole leaf tea, they don’t claim that a certain tea will make you rich or perform a back massage but they do claim to use supreme products and be quality driven – which we respect greatly, the teas taste great. Our fave is the Brewbarb & Custard, which is a Rooibos tea that is so fragrant it almost feels like you are eating a dessert. Amazing and so different from the crappy dusty bags of Rooibos we have tried before.
Teaple offer a great happy medium for quality tea drinking – the bags are biodegradable; inside is whole leaf tea, so the freshness and full flavours can still be achieved without what they call ‘faff’.
Teaple products are made for tea drinker by tea drinkers. They have plans for tasting sessions and we are working on collaborating with them and a boozy partner to come up with some of summery tea infused cocktail concoctions. It’s a tough life….
Here are some of the current teas and infusions available:
#1 Rosy Lee (English Breakfast blend) Blended from the finest Assam and Ceylon teas by expert blenders. This blend has a mid sized even leaf giving a traditional malty flavour with good strength.
#2 Lord Grey’s Tweed Trousers (Darjeeling Earl Grey blend) A blend of the finest Darjeeling, Keemun, Ceylon and Assam scented with the delicate aroma of the Bergamot fruit.
#3 Green & MinTea (Green tea & mint blend) This blend is an exact replica of the teas still drunk in Morocco.
#4 Zesty Spice (Lemon & ginger root blend) A perfectly balanced aromatic blend of lemon, cut ginger root and fennel seeds, produces a refreshing and caffeine free liquor.
#5 FruTea (Mixed red berry blend)! A blend of hibiscus, rosehip, apple and raspberry pieces, and orange peel.
#6 Fresh Prince (Peppermint leaves) This blend of cut peppermint leaves also has an excellent reputation for cooling and calming. This is perfect as a refreshing after dinner drink.
#7 A Soothing Romp (Whole chamomile flowers) Produced on the Egyptian plains. This has a remarkable calming effect, for when you’ve had a stressful one and need to kick back and mellow out.
#8 Brewbarb & Custard (Vanilla rooibos blend) Rooibos or ‘Red Bush’ is produced in South Africa. It is known to have excellent antioxidant properties and is naturally caffeine free. It reminds them (and us!) of rhubarb and custard (hence the name…).
We can see Teaple being just the right level of quality to coolness – whip out a bag of Teaple in the office or serve up a true brew to your guests. Tea really is the ultimate ammunition for a good host and many occasions call for a warm soothing treat. We’d love to see this go organic in the future.
Tea also makes for a great gift for your host or guests.
