EASY DRINKER

We are all so busy around this glorious festive season, it is easy to concentrate thoughts and our attention on to the food served (not a bad thing) and the drinks can end up being an after thought. Never letting an opportunity for a drink pass us by, we have been ‘testing’ a few drinkies that might serve you well when entertaining!

Here are 3 options to welcome your kin, setting the fun, festive and welcoming tone:

Campari mini bottles

You can’t get much easier than this. These pretty little bottles are the ultimate in aperitif chic. Pre chill, pop the cap, put in your choice of  on-trend paper straw and serve on a tray with bowl of giant Sicilian olives.

Babbo Negroni

A super simple recipe of very own Helgi developed just for this occasion. Make this drink in just a couple of minutes, with minimal mess and effort but all the festive delight. You could even mix up a batch of the liquid and pour into the pre garnished glasses with ice as guests arrive.

25mls Dunnbonet
25mls Opihr Oreiental Spiced Gin
25mls Aperol
3-4 dashes of orange bitters

Glass: Rocks
Make: Pour it all in over ice and stir for a few seconds
Garnish: Rim the glass with icing sugar and garnish the drink with a cinnamon stick, a slither or curl of orange peel and a (washed) sprig of Christmas tree.

This is great welcome drink with an impressive visual impact and the scent of Christmas.

Plum Aviation

Pretty serve to delight your guests

Pretty serve to delight your guests

Our lovely buddies at The Gin Garden have suggested this stunning cocktail to serve at your Christmas gatherings.  It might take a little more love and attention but your guests will taste that in every sip. To make this delicate plum drink (inspired by Norfolk’s plums and lavender), pre infuse half a bottle of gin with black plums.

35ml Plum gin
25ml Plum and ginger syrup
35ml Lime juice
Garnish with a slice of plum
Spritz of lavender water to serve

Glass: Coupe
Make: Combine the plum gin, plum and ginger syrup and lime juice in a shaker with ice. Shake and then double strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Garnish: Add a slice of plum to garnish and spritz with lavender water, for an aromatic reminder of summer before you sip a taste of winter – preserved plums and warming ginger.

Here is where you can find ginger syrup of you want to buy it rather than make it: We have used Monin before: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Monin-Premium-Ginger-Syrup-700/dp/B004BAXYJO/ref=sr_1_3?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1387275018&sr=1-3&keywords=ginger+in+syrup

It’s been our pleasure to share with you many an entertaining treat in 2013. We entirely intend to do even more in 2014!
