With an unsurprising dollop of elation (love ‘testing’ restaurants), a friend and I glided into Fera’s home at Claridge’s, past the deco lobby, then through the heavy velvet curtains. We both seemingly instantly decompressed upon entering this airy, tranquil haven of beautiful food and furnishings.
Fera delivers a serene dining space with sophisticated dishes from 2 Michelin Starred Chef Simon Rogan. Dishes are intricately put together with the focus being the honesty of hand-grown ingredients and intriguing combinations. The service was seamless, with the amuse bouche brought to the table by the acclaimed chef himself and for the rest of the menu we were attended to by a slick n’stylish knowledgeable team. Fera offers high-end dishes with a low-faff know how.
The infusion of ‘nature’ into the dishes and dining room made for an elegant experience and the purposeful strutting about of a (quite dashing) bearded Restaurant Manager should ensure that the cooler, media diners will feel like they are in the place to be, even if they aren’t in Soho or Shoreditch.
Dishes are delicate and detailed, the menu changes constantly. You can taste the credibly of the ingredients and that’s reassuring – as you are undoubtedly paying for them! We had a 2-course lunch menu with the odd glass of wine that amounted to over £150 for 2 people.
Even with that price tag we’d absolutely recommend the experience. It was faultless from start of finish and the tour of the kitchen at the end of the meal was a big cherry on top moment. We didn’t’ t feel like Fera was ground breaking but it certainly was breathtakingly sincere.
Fera offers modern-day fine dining and appears to be a perfect fit for Claridge’s, which we have always regarded as a London oasis of charm and delight.
