The May edition of #DontMindIfIDoThursday comes from the Soho staple that is Randall & Aubin. We enjoyed much yum, greedily lunching on retro dishes from their new-old menu (explained below), gloriously washed down with pink gin!
Celebrating their success as a beloved Soho pit-stop on Brewer Street, the folks at Randal & Aubin thought they’d remind us just how long they have been satisfying Soho-istas, issuing a menu with some of the original dishes from their opening year of 1997.
This mini flash-back menu features mains that easily stand the test of time including: Aegean Glazed Lamb Fillet served with Mustard Beans, Sicilian Couscous and Tzatziki and Seared Pork Loin with Parma Ham, Red Cabbage, Grilled Apples and Mustard Dressing. Then for dessert there is the oh so sweet and can’t be good for you, Pot au Chocolate, which of course we tried (thank goodness some things have changed, like Power Plates in gyms and hot yoga that might help us purge our 90’s inspired feast sesh).
The retro menu has the added Brucey bonus, as dishes are available for the same price as they were when the venue first launched.
Fully committing to the Soho vibe we washed our 90’s down with the most delish pink hued G&T, made with the rather agreeably camp looking pretty, raspberry infused Pinkster Gin.
Either get to Soho to pleasure yourselves with retro dishes and pink gin like we did… or here is how to give yourselves a good botanical seeing to at home:
Randall & Aubin proffer a delicate serve – perfect for daytime drinking and also makes for a rather dashing welcome drink to guests at your event whether it be a garden BBQ or chic dinner indoors.
Pinkster Gin & Tonic (a la Randall & Aubin)
35mls Pinkster Gin
Fever Tree Tonic Water
A Few Fresh Mint Leaves (we like ours lightly spanked to release the oils and scent)
2 Fresh Raspberries To Garnish
Plenty Of Ice…
Don’t forget the obligatory 90’s swivel stick….
(Pinkster is a premium gin made up of five botanicals. Fresh British raspberries are steeped in the triple distilled spirit, resulting in the trademark colour and distinctive flavour. Find Pinkster Gin at The Wine Pantry in Borough Market and Royal Mile Whiskies in Bloomsbury.)
